Modern Slavery Statement

Introduction

Luxaflex® UK, a division of Hunter Douglas, is the leading supplier of window fashions to the UK made-to-measure window coverings market. Luxaflex® branded blinds are known throughout the UK for their quality, innovation and design. Based in Stockport and Birmingahm Luxaflex® UK employs around 200 people.

Luxaflex® UK recognises that modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various form such as slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour for human trafficking, all of which have in common the deprivation of a person’s liberty by another in order to exploit them for personal or commercial gain. Luxaflex® UK has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships and to implement and enforce effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our business or supply chain.

Recruitment

In compliance with the recruitment process we seek to avoid inadvertently engaging those who present as looking for work for themselves but who could be ‘controlled’ by a third person. Our recruitment is managed in house which enables us to conduct a rigorous recruitment process and control the work undertaken and the labour conditions for which our employees work.

Where agency workers are used, these are from reputable employment agencies whose practices are verified before accepting workers.

Our recruitment practices include ‘right to work’ checks for all prospective employees. This ensures we maintain an assured overview of those entering our employment and prevents the occurrence of forced or involuntary labour. Our HR department ensures that recruitment practices are fair and equitable and in accordance with employment law; satisfactory working conditions and related safeguards are in place; necessary pre-employment checks are undertaken and approved prior to prospective employees starting in a position and appropriate training is provided.

Procurement

Luxaflex® UK is committed to ensuring that there is transparency in its own business and in its approach to tackling modern slavery throughout its supply chain. We expect the same high standards from all of our customers, suppliers and other business partners. As part of the contracting processes Luxaflex® UK includes specific prohibitions against the use of forced, compulsory or trafficked labour or anyone held in slavery or servitude and we expect that our suppliers will hold their own suppliers to the same high standards.

We are subject to due diligence checks in the form of ethical compliance audits conducted by an independent third party. These audits are currently undertaken every two years.
